With a heavy heart we announce the passing of Teddy Wayne Dotson, age 52, of Stopover, KY, on September 2nd, 2025, in Hazard, KY, at the Greg & Noreen Hospice Care Center.
Wayne was born in Pikeville, KY on February 11th, 1973, to his parents, Linda Estep Dotson of Paw Paw, KY and the late Earl Dotson.
Wayne was employed by Cleveland Cliffs and was a skilled mechanic; known for being the best on the job, and later he moved to a bossing position. An avid sports enthusiast, Wayne’s passion for the Pittsburg Stealers was matched only by his love for his family and grandchildren. He was an excellent provider and the best dad and husband anyone could wish for. Wayne was a member of the Stopover Church of God. In his spare time, he enjoyed rifle hunting when it was deer season and fishing. He also enjoyed riding his side by side, motorcycle, and playing on his Xbox.
In addition to Wayne’s mother, Linda Estep Dotson, Wayne is survived by the love of his life of 34 years, Erica Blankenship Dotson of Stopover, KY, she treasured their fairy-tale relationship and will forever miss the love of her life; his cherished children, Dylan Dotson, Kaylah Dotson, and Paige Dotson and her boyfriend Brandon Nicholas all of Stopover, KY; father & mother-in-law, Bill & Debbie Blankenship of Stopover, KY; two brothers, Tony Dotson of Stopover, KY and Ronnie Dotson of Paw Paw, KY; three sisters, Shelia Dotson, and Vickie Griffin both of Dwale, KY, and Rita Dotson of Prestonsburg, KY.
Wayne was the beloved Pawpaw to Mason, Carson, Violet, Kora, Landon, and Lennox. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
He also had a host of extended family, friends, and co-workers that will miss him dearly.
Wayne was known for his heart of gold, storytelling, being the problem solver, and always extending his helping hand to anyone in need. His legacy of kindness and wisdom will live on through the countless lives he touched.
The family would like to welcome friends for visitation from 6-9 P.M. on September 4 & 5, 2025 at the Jones & West Funeral Home located at 37035 State Highway 194 East.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, September 6th, 2025 in the chapel with Pastor Harold Layne officiating.
Interment will conclude at the Blankenship/Dotson Family Cemetery on Owens Fork, at Stopover, Kentucky with friends & family serving as Pallbearers.
