Verlin Smith

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Verlin Smith age 58, of Pikeville, Kentucky on October 31, 2021.  He was born March 07, 1963, to the late Dave and Inas Fern Smith of Phelps, Kentucky.  Verlin is also preceded in death by one brother, Tyrone Smith and two sisters, Vivian Smith and Malona Coleman.

Verlin was a long-time resident of Phelps, Kentucky, and a retired coal miner.  He loved going to church and was of the Church of God faith.  He was an Avid UK fan.  Also, he enjoyed boating and cooking.  Most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends.   

Those surviving him are his children, Joseph (Blair) Smith of Banner, Kentucky, and two daughters, Breanna Fields of Williamson, West Virginia and Deysha Smith of Hardy, Kentucky. 

Four Brothers, David (Norma)Smith, Donald Smith, Harvey Smith, and Frankie (Becky)Smith.  Two Sisters, Yvonne (Gary) Hatfield and Kathy (William) Runyon. 

Verlin had 3 Grandchildren, Harper Smith of Banner, Kentucky, McKinlee and Devlan Fields of Williamson, West Virginia.

Services will be held at the Jones & West Chapel of Phelps, Kentucky on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at 6:00 P.M. for the public and special services starting at 7:00 p.m. with the Reverend Samuel Stevens officiating.  Funeral will be Wednesday, November 3, 2021, at 1:00 P.M.  Burial will be at the Dave Smith Family Cemetery in Phelps, Kentucky.
