Virginia Darlene (Estepp) Wagner, age 77, resident of Phelps, KY, passed away on May 13th, 2025, at Pikeville Medical Center.
Virginia was born June 2nd, 1947, at Matewan, W.Va., the loving daughter of the late Robert & Dorothy (Allen) Estepp.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 plus years, John W. Wagner, two brothers, Jimmy Estepp, and Dennis Keith Estepp, and two sisters, Betty Grimmett, and Lurlie.
Virginia was a proud homemaker and enjoyed taking immaculate care of her home and family. One of her favorite sayings was, “If your house is dirty outside, people will think you’re dirty on the inside too.”
Virginia recently prayed and accepted Christ as her savior. She enjoyed watching cardinals fly to her beautiful dogwood tree in her yard. Virginia was always ready and willing to take a road trip and shop at flea markets and eat at her favorite restaurant, Peking.
Those remaining to honor Virginia’s memory include her children, Jane Dotson and John (Shaunna) Wagner both of Phelps, KY; one brother, Ike Estepp of Matewan, W.Va.
Virginia was the cherished grandmother of Johnathan Wagner, Ashley (Karah) Phoenix, and Kayci (Gabe) Berry and the great-grandmother of Sadie Coleman, Jocelyn Wolford, and Aelin Berry. She loved and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly.
Virginia will be remembered for her spunky attitude and infectious smile. She brought love and laughter wherever she went. Her memory will continue to inspire and comfort those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. on Friday, May 16th, 2025 at the Jones & West Funeral Home located at 37035 State Highway 194 East. Special services will begin at 7:00 P.M.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. May 17, 2025 in the chapel with Richard McKinney officiating.
The burial will follow at the Wagner Cemetery in Phelps, KY with friends and family serving as Pallbearers.
