Zenas “Mush” Dotson JR, of Freeburn, KY, departed this life Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at his residence. He was born February 5, 1951 at Jamboree, KY, the son of the late Zenas Dotson SR and Myrtle “Blankenship” Dotson. He was 69 years old.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Jamie Zenas Dotson.
Mush was a wonderful family man who worked as a coal miner for around 36 years. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. He also loved his dog Jack who just recently passed away as well. Mush was an avid Kentucky Wildcats fan who enjoyed gardening in the summer, especially flowers.
Survivors remaining to honor his memory include his loving wife of 49 years: Sheila Ann “Radloff” Dotson; two sons: Warren Michael (Jimma) Dotson of Hudson, NC and Jason N. Dotson of Lenore, WV; three brothers: Wendell Dotson of Matewan, WV, Raymond Dotson of Lexington, KY, and Kenneth “Bub” Dotson of Maiden, NC; three sisters: Gleda (Kenny) Mounts of Matewan, WV, Dyann Dotson of Sawmill, NC, and Abigail Dotson of OH, ten grandchildren: LaShea, Amber, Desiree, Farah, Piper, Melissa, Jennie, Alex, Olivia and Briann, eight great grandchildren: Elijah, Nova, Coy, Parker, Issaac, Zia, Tom, and Eli Jamie who was named after his uncle Jamie. He is also survived by a host of wonderful friends, and extended family who he loved dearly.
Visitation will be at the chapel Thursday evening from 6:00 -10:00 P.M. with a celebration of life service officiated by Pastor Mitchell Bowling at 7:00 P.M. In honor of Mush’s wishes, he will then be cremated with burial to follow in the Billy Dotson Cemetery of Phelps, KY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mush’s memory may be made to the funeral home to help offset funeral expenses.
