Carl Coleman Jr., 80, of Long Fork, Kimper, KY, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at his residence. Born July 28, 1936 in Coleman, KY, he was a son of the late Paris & Missouri Coleman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers, two sisters, and two twin grandchildren.
Carl was a longtime member of the Johns Creek Primitive Baptist Church and served there as a deacon for nearly 40 years. He was captain of Kimper Fire & Rescue. His fellow firemen referred to him as “Captain Carl”. In addition to his responsibilities at the fire department, Carl spent a lot of time proudly serving the community through his business: M & C Lawn Service. He also served as sheriff on the election board at Kimper, KY, and was a Kentucky Colonel. Carl was all about church, family, & work. He did a lot for the community and will be greatly missed by many.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years: Margaret Ann Vipperman Coleman of Kimper, KY; four daughters: Sedrena (David) May of Canada, KY, Jennifer (Arthur “Bubbie T.”) Blankenship, Carolyne (Maynard) Coleman, and Tori Varney, all of Kimper, KY; one brother: Plennie (Vicky) Coleman of Canada, KY; one sister: Faye Coleman of Louisville, KY; four grandchildren: Keegan & Sara May, James & Bill Coleman; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, & friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Johns Creek Primitive Baptist Church, Long Fork, Kimper, KY.
Burial & fireman’s honors will follow at Varney’s Branch Cemetery, Kimper, KY with James & Bill Coleman, David & Keegan May, Maynard Coleman, Bubbie Blankenship, Jeremy Jacobs, Matt Thacker, Ted Leedy & Terry Hunt serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Thursday at the church with services nightly at 7:00 P.M.
