Linda (Smith) Coleman

Linda Faye Smith Coleman, 63, of Jamboree, KY, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Baptist Health Lexington, KY.  She was born January 23, 1952 at Coleman, KY to the late Edd and Emma Smith.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Ronald Lee Smith. 

Linda was a retired cook from Phelps Elementary School and a member of the Phelps Freewill Baptist Church.  She was an artist and had done many paintings and drawings for friends and family throughout the years, as well as a mural of the Breaks Interstate Park for the Daniel Boone exhibit at Pikeville, KY’s Heritage Museum.  She also painted a background mural for the Matewan Depot.  Linda had a big heart and was a friend to a lot of people who often called on her for advice.

Survivors include her husband: Freddie Coleman; two sons: Gregory Edward (Teresa) Coleman of Phelps, KY, Charles Brent (Ashley) Coleman of Hardy, KY; one daughter: Rebecca Lynn Steele of Phelps, KY; two brothers: Roger Lee (Pat) Smith of Rogersville, TN, Arthur (Ruby) Smith of Stopover, KY; one sister: Carol Sue Smith of Richmond, KY; two grandchildren: Gregory Ethan Coleman of Phelps, KY, and Elijah Brent Coleman of Hardy, KY.  Linda is also survived by a host of friends, family, nieces and nephews to mourn her passing.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, September 24, 2015 at the Phelps Freewill Baptist Church with Reverends Roger Blackburn and Danny Scott officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hatfield Cemetery, Jamboree, KY.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday at the church with special singing at 7:00 P.M., and services Wednesday night at 7:00 P.M. 

Arrangements are under the direction of the Jones & West Funeral Home of Phelps, KY.
