Lula Pearl Lester, 77, of Phelps, KY, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at her residence. She was born October 9, 1939 in Phelps, a daughter of the late Dave & Elsie Blankenship Layne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years: Earl Lester; five brothers: Delmer, Doris, Kinzer, Willie, & Timothy Layne; and one sister: Rosetta Wolford.
Lula Pearl was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith. She enjoyed crocheting when she was able, and loved spending time with family. She especially enjoyed her grandchildren & great-grandchildren. Lula Pearl was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include one daughter: Trula (Michael) Fortney of Galion, OH; two sons: Ronald (Hattie) Lester of Phelps, KY, Chester (Genette) Lester of Freeburn, KY; two brothers: Tracy Layne of Galion, OH, Clinton (Mary) Layne of Red Jacket, WV; two sisters: Loretta (Edward) Ward of TN, Elsie Jean Layne of TN; nine grandchildren: Daniel, Brandi, Brent, Kelee, Amber, Kevin, Matt, Ashley, & Greg; eleven great grandchildren: Liam, Ariyana, Halee, Hayden, Lucas, Heath, Austin, Logan, Dawson, Anthony, & Darwin. She also leaves behind a host of family & friends to cherish her memory.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, May 21, 2017 at the Jones & West Funeral Home with Reverend Odis Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in the O.D. Prater Cemetery, Abes Branch of Phelps, KY.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
