Ray Smith

Ray Smith, 69, of Kimper KY, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at his residence.

He was born February 15, 1947 in Pike County, KY, a son of the late Charlie & Gertie Williamson Smith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter: Heather Davis; and one sister: Patricia Chapman.

Ray was a firefighter since 1972 and was a member of Kimper Fire & Rescue from its beginning.  He was of the Primitive Baptist faith and enjoyed gardening and working with the Farmer’s Market in Williamson, WV.

Survivors include one son: Walter Ray Smith of Kimper KY; two daughters: Christina (Jason) May of Kimper KY, Kristy Benedetti of Columbus OH; two sisters: Beatrice (Sammy) Cox of Ashland KY, Goldie (James) Hunt of Phyllis KY; his companion: Edith Burgess of Phelps, KY; nine grandchildren: Alexis, Christian, Angel, Brittany, Tiffany, Madelynn, Kiera, Allyson, and Raylan; his nephews: James & Charles; plus a host of family, friends, and fellow members of Kimper Fire & Rescue to mourn his passing.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 25, 2016 at the Jones & West Funeral Home with ministers Mike Smith & David May officiating.

Burial will follow in the Williamson Cemetery, Long Fork Kimper, KY.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home with special services Sunday at 7:00 P.M.
