Wanda Shankles, 75, of Freeburn, KY, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday February 10, 2016 in the home of her daughter Tammy Norman of Phelps, KY. She was born June 13, 1940 in Hensley WV to the late Boyd Smith & Blanche Daniels. Wanda was the loving wife of the late Bobby R. Shankles. She was also preceded in death by three brothers: Ted Smith, Leroy Smith, & Clyde Smith.
Wanda had worked as a technician for Sunbeam Electronic of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include three sons: Michael (Chrissy) Hurley of Newtown, WV, Paul (Rochella) Hurley of Majestic, KY, Doyle Ray Shankles of San Diego, CA; three daughters: Tammy Norman (Jeff McCoy) of Phelps, KY, Nina (Jerry) May of Majestic, KY, Stamatia Marquardt of Tampa, Florida; one sister: Charlene Hensley of Woodman, KY; special friend: Tammy Lou McCoy, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family & friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Jones & West Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Carl Blankenship & Curtis Hamilton officiating.
Burial will follow in the Sanson Cemetery in Woodman, KY. Serving as pallbearers will be friends and grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6:00 – 10:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.
