Ray "Country Preacher" Leedy, 75, of Huddy, KY, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Pikeville Medical Center.  He was born June 1, 1941 in John's Creek, KY, a son of the late Arthur Leedy & Dixie Leedy Hess.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years: Freida Mae “Estepp” Leedy; brothers: Jerry Leedy and one infant brother.
 

Ray was a veteran of the United States Army, a lifetime ordained minister of the Octavia Freewill Baptist Church, and a Kentucky Colonel.  He loved fellowship and attending church.  Ray was a coal truck driver and owner/operator of Ray Leedy Trucking.  He also enjoyed gardening, going to gospel singings, and listening to his music as loud as it would go.  As a cancer survivor, Ray was an active member of the Annual Relay for Life.  

 

Ray is survived by one son: Butch (Katrina) Leedy of Staters Branch, KY; three daughters: Charlena (James) Eggleston of Keysville, VA, Renee (Frank) Kessler of Williamson, WV, Jacquetta (Jason) McCown of South Williamson, KY; three brothers: Arnold Faye (Joan) Leedy of Lake Gaston, NC, Charlie Boy (June) Leedy of McAndrews, KY, Tim (Bobbie) Leedy of McAndrews, KY; seven grandchildren: Adam Leedy of Tuson, AZ, Jonathon Leedy of Lexington, KY, Serena Eggleston of Lumberton, NC, Amber Jarrett of Green Bay, VA, J.R. Eggleston of Keysville, VA, Jenna McCown of South Williamson, KY, Carli McCown of South Williamson, KY, Brooke Kessler of Matewan, WV, Whitney Pauley of Charleston, WV, Paige Hall of Savannah, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends & family to mourn his passing.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Sunday, April 30th at Octavia Freewill Baptist Church, McAndrews, KY with Reverend Dennis Hinkle officiating.

Burial will follow at Mountain View Memory Gardens, Huddy, KY.

Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. Friday at the church with special services Saturday, April 29th at 7:00 P.M by Reverend Dewayne Yates.
